Camp Interculturel Bénin 2004: 
Camp Interculturel Benin 2004 : Public education to Child Rights, Tolerance  and Democracy for Peace in Benin, July 25th – August 25th , 2004

    Context :

    The Camp Interculturel Benin – CIB 2004 is the second edition of an initiative taken by Africa Peace to make closer youth from North and from South in order to allow them discovering one another, exchanging on their respective cultural backgrounds and working to achieve community development.
    While CIB 2003 August 05th – 20th, 2003 with 30 young participants (Belgium, Benin, France, Ghana, The Netherlands, Liberia & Nigeria) consisted in sensitising the local populations on Child Girls schooling and HIV/Aids prevention, this year’s edition is entirely part of the National Peace education campaign undertaken by Africa Peace to maintain Peace in Benin towards the next presidential elections of March 2006.

      CIB 2004’ Purposes :

    - Bring 40 young people ( 16 –30) from Europe, Africa & Canada the opportunity to meet, to discover each other and to act together for Peace in Benin.
    - Sensitise the 40 young participants on the Child Rights, Tolerance & Democracy.
    - Train 40 young participants in the Social communication skills to educate the communities on the Child Rights, Tolerance & Democracy. 
    - Make participants from North to South and from East to West the Cultural, tourist, social and economical values of Benin.
    - Organize Three Giants Peace Concerts in Cotonou, Parakou & Porto-Novo, the three main cities of Benin : bring together the well-known artists and sing Peace for Benin, Peace for Africa, Peace for the World.
    - Conceive and present at the Intercultural Night a theatre show called : We are different, but we can live together !

     

    Description :

    The Camp Interculturel Benin 2004 looks forward to gathering together 40 young volunteers(16 to 30 years old) in Benin from July 25th to August 25th.They will be sensitised on Child Rights ,Tolerance and Democracy before being trained in techniques of Information, Education and Communication to lead public sessions to sensitise Benin population. Considering past events during past elections ,towns and conglomerations sensitive to be disturbed during the presidential election of March 2006 will be the main areas to receive public sessions. The most concerned are: Abomey, Azové, Abomey – Calavi, Adjohoun, Cotonou, Dassa Zoumé, Djakotomey,Djougou, Kandi, Lokossa, Natitingou, Ouidah, Parakou , Porto Novo.

    During their trip within Benin, participants will visit tourist sites, museums and other cultural sites as well as markets.
    Every night after dinner, there will be some shows made of music from participants’ countries and mostly from Benin The theatre show « we are different but we can live together! » will be conceived by actors from various nationalities and shown at the Intercultural Night the August 24th 2004 in Cotonou.

     

    Lodging/Foods/Internal Transport

    - All the participants will be lodged together in school and campus along the camp. There won’t be separate lodging for a participant. And each participant is called to bring his inflatable mattress, mosquito net, bed sheet, etc) and the necessary toilet material. 
    - The restoration will be made of Foods from Benin. 
    - The Internal transports will be ensured by a mini bus negotiated by the Organizing committee .
    - The participants will have two free days for their own courses 
    ( August 23rd & 24th, 2003)

     

    Participants :

    - Young Volunteers (16 – 30) working or not with an organisation;
    - Pupils, College students, University students , Artists desirous of discovering Africa, meeting with people from various cultural backgrounds and work with them for Africa Development;
    - Human Rights activists, peace-builders,…
